Artifiziarium II
Roeb appropriates the interpretations of images and information that we are familiar with from the online environment. As a sculptor, she mainly refers to her own language of motifs and forms - she transfers them from a three-dimensional to a two-dimensional form. The collage medium serves as a field of experimentation for her. Roeb works with fragments of her already documented works and interweaves real and digital found objects. In this way, she creates measures and reflections on reality, which she assesses as a mental map of her own image archive.
Biography
Roeb is a sculptor and visual artist. In her works she refers to the symbolism of mythology and rituals celebrated by ancient cultures. Her objects mainly depict hybrids and abstract mutations from the world of humans beings, animals and essential minerals. The motifs she shows, which at first seem to be familiar, balance on the border between reality and surrealism, breaking previous perceptual habits. By juxtaposing apparently inappropriate body parts and objects, she manifests the vital forces of organic matter. At the same time, she addresses and questions the fragility of human power in terms of its supremacy and dominion over other non-human creatures. Yvonne Roeb lives and works in Berlin.
